Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains what data is involved when you use Books Vault Reader, how it is stored, and when it may be transmitted.

The app is designed for local reading. Cloud sync, WebDAV, and AI features are optional and only active if you enable them.

What Data Is Processed

  • On your device: your library, book files, reading progress, bookmarks, notes, reader settings, and other in-app data.
  • Books Vault cloud (if sync is enabled and you sign in via Telegram): account data required for authentication and a copy of sync data (books, progress, notes, and related metadata).
  • WebDAV (if configured): sync data is stored on the server you specify.
  • AI (if enabled): selected text and chat messages are sent only to the provider you configure (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek, etc.).

We do not sell your data and do not share it with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

Storage and Encryption

Data on your device is kept within the app’s protected storage and is not accessible to other apps without OS permissions.

When you use Books Vault cloud sync, data is transmitted to our servers in encrypted form (encryption in transit and at rest). We use it only to provide sync across your devices and do not disclose your library contents to outside organizations.

Credentials and keys for WebDAV, AI, and other external services remain on your device and are used solely for connections you configure.

AI and Third-Party Services You Choose

AI, translation, TTS, WebDAV, and app stores are separate services with their own policies. Books Vault Reader sends requests only at your direction. We do not control those providers and do not access your AI conversations on their systems.

Security

We apply technical and organizational measures to protect data on our sync infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; please keep the app updated and use a strong device lock.

Operating Systems and Other Apps

Android, iOS, HarmonyOS, device manufacturers, and other applications may collect data independently of Books Vault Reader. Please review their privacy policies separately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version is always published on this page and takes effect upon posting.
