Terms of Service
Effective Date: June 10, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By using Books Vault Reader (the "App"), this website, and related sync services, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. Client source code is licensed under the MIT License; use of Books Vault cloud infrastructure is also governed by these Terms.
2. Description of Service
Books Vault Reader is an e-book reader with a local library and optional features, including:
- reading, bookmarks, notes, reading statistics, and display settings;
- cloud sync through a Books Vault account (Telegram sign-in);
- WebDAV sync to a server you choose;
- AI, translation, and text-to-speech via third-party services you configure;
- catalog and other capabilities available in your app version.
Some platform builds may be free or sold as a one-time purchase; feature parity applies unless the app store listing states otherwise.
3. Software License (MIT)
Client source code is provided under the MIT License. You may use, modify, and distribute it subject to MIT requirements, including preserving copyright notices. You may not use the Books Vault name or branding to promote derivative products without permission.
4. Account and Cloud Sync
- Cloud sync requires Telegram sign-in. You are responsible for securing your Telegram account and device.
- Sync data is transmitted and stored in encrypted form and used only to operate the service across your devices.
- We do not sell user data or share it with third parties for advertising.
- We may restrict or terminate cloud access for violations, abuse, or legal requirements.
- You may stop using the cloud by disabling sync; account data deletion is available on request via the contact below.
5. User Responsibilities
- Use the App lawfully; do not upload or share content that infringes copyright or applicable law.
- Do not interfere with servers, bypass access controls, or use the service for unauthorized automated data collection.
- Evaluate risks when connecting WebDAV, AI, translation, TTS, and other third-party APIs; comply with their terms.
- Keep API keys and passwords entered in the App secure.
6. Privacy
Data handling is described in our Privacy Policy, including local storage, Books Vault cloud, WebDAV, and optional AI services. By using the App, you acknowledge that policy.
7. Third-Party Services
App stores, Telegram, WebDAV providers, AI/translation/TTS vendors, and other integrations are independent services. We are not responsible for their availability, pricing, privacy practices, or conduct.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The App and cloud service are provided "AS IS." We do not warrant uninterrupted operation, data preservation in force-majeure events, or compatibility with every format or device. We recommend backing up important data.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, data loss, or lost profits arising from use of the App or cloud, except where mandatory law provides otherwise.
10. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms. The current version is posted on this page. Continued use after updates constitutes acceptance.
11. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time. We may suspend access for violations. MIT License rights for already distributed source code remain unaffected.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the service operator's jurisdiction. Disputes shall be resolved in competent courts there, subject to mandatory consumer protection rules where applicable.
